Northern Gas & Power are proud to sponsor the Best Places to Work Awards 2018.

Northern Gas & Power are the “Best place to work in the UK” as voted by the CMI and Glassdoor in Dec 2017. So, it is a natural progression for us to sponsor the ‘Best Places to Work’ awards. This is in partnership with The Journal and The Chronicle.

What are the ‘Best place to work’ awards?

The ‘Best Places to Work’ initiative ties in with The Journal’s Invest in the North East campaign. This aims to make the region a better place in which to live and work. The initiative has won support from: the North East England Chamber of Commerce, the CBI and the Federation of Small Businesses.

A supplement outlining the North East’s Best Places to Work will be published in The Journal this summer. There will be an awards evening at The Biscuit Factory in Newcastle on June 27 where many prizes will be awarded.

The awards will focus on:

* how they look after their staff’s health;

* the role each company plays in their communities;

* perks, benefits and bonuses offered to staff;

* efforts to provide a good work-life balance.

Northern Gas and Power: Our thoughts.

NGP’s People Director Scott said:

“We know how hard the NGP family work, and this has been proven in many ways. On top of their standard 28 days holidays per year, we do not want our team to work in December. We divide the yearly target by 11, and once we hit that target, (usually by the first week in December), we send the team home to spend time with their families. This is a great motivator, and creates a fantastic atmosphere.”

We are really pleased with the response so far from the local businesses in the North East, large and small. It is going to be a fantastic evening of networking and sharing employee welfare best practice. Not to forget celebrating the best businesses the North East has to offer.
