Disruption in the energy market

Our global utilities sector is experiencing a profound and transformational evolution. The energy market is experiencing a digital revolution. Businesses need to adopt change in their thinking and modernize their approach to energy management through innovation.

Ensure that you have the right partner to charter you a new course forward in this shifting and uncertain landscape. We support the most complex energy strategies through our energy management services team. Discover the latest in energy management technologies, today!

Compliance

ESOS

Our ESOS Lead Assessors (through the Energy Institute) who can take you through the complete ESOS programme through to registering compliance with the relevant authorities (e.g. the Environment Agency who manage the scheme in USA).

The are many routes to compliance, the most common of which is through auditing a representative cross section of sites and then producing a wide ranging plan for energy savings.

SECR

The Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) framework came into effect from April 2019 and coincides with the closure of the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme.

Under SECR circa 11,900 UK organisations will be required to report accurate and auditable annual energy reports and provide a high-level description of proposed energy efficiency actions. We can advise you on whether you need to comply.

ISO 50001

ISO 50001 supports organisations in all sectors to use energy more efficiently, through development of energy management systems (EnMS)

  • Develop a policy for more efficient use of energy
  • Fix targets and objectives to meet the policy
  • Use data to better understand and make decisions about energy use
  • Measure and review how well the policy works

Consultancy

Energy Audits

To help you analyze where, when, why and how energy is used in a process, building, site or organization, identifying opportunities to reduce consumption, cost, emissions and eliminate waste.

Audits will identify low and no cost opportunities often involving operational, behavioural and maintenance issues, through to technical solutions requiring capital expenditure which achieve greater returns.

Virtual Energy Manager

We can act as an organization’s Virtual Energy Manager, utilizing the data we receive as part of our metering, monitoring and targeting services:

  • Expected consumptions taken from averages of the previous comparable periods
  • Base loads to identify any potential wastage
  • Peaks to ensure maximum capacities are not exceeded leading to penalty charges
  • Any energy related metrics that a reduction target has been set against to ensure targets are being achieved
  • Degree day analysis to normalize weather patterns with respect to heat use

Part-Time Energy Manager

Very few businesses employ an in-house Energy Manager, we can overcome this problem by offering a Part-Time Energy Manager service. Organizations will buy a set amount of time, often 12-24 days per year, and call-off this time as required. We support with:

  • Undertaking energy audits
  • Preparing energy management plans
  • In depth feasibility studies on specific technical solutions
  • Assistance with energy budgeting
  • Undertaking staff energy awareness training
  • Upskilling a nominated energy champion on site and hosting energy forums

Carbon and Sustainability

If your organization requires a sustainability strategy for any reason from good practise to inclusion in a tender return, we can assess your current situation, determine your priorities and needs and provide a comprehensive sustainability strategy incorporating: economic, environmental and social impacts.

We can also offer:

  • Carbon foot-printing – from standard scope 1 and 2 carbon footprints focussing on your gas and fossil fuel use, to complete carbon footprints across supply chains and employees.
  • Carbon Neutral – we can advise on the most appropriate method of achieving carbon neutral goals.
  • Carbon offsetting – we partner with approved carbon offset providers to offer our clients this service.

Energy Training

Members of staff are often the first and most important method of energy reduction, by undergoing energy awareness training, real and ongoing savings can often be achieved. In our experience, the most effective energy related training occurs in three stages:

  • All staff web-based awareness training. Takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and highlights the importance of energy and energy reduction to the person and the company.
  • Energy Communications Training. Site-based training to either individuals or small groups on how to keep the message about the importance of energy management in the forefront of people’s minds.
  • Energy Champion Training. Site based one-to-one mentoring of a nominated energy champion on site to enable them to carry out energy audits, identify wastage, and carry out ongoing energy management. This will involve one day a month on site with the nominated person from 6 to 9 months, with unlimited telephone and email support throughout the process.

Project and Siteworks

Expert advice and project management capabilities on all energy related installation projects.  From feasibility studies, writing functional specifications, managing tender processes through to complete project management, our operations team will ensure a smooth and seamless installation; and with our metering solutions, verify that all savings are achieved.

In addition, we have access to a range of funders to ensure lack of capital is not an issue, and can enter into funded shared savings agreements to provide a no-risk solution.

The types of projects we can assist with are vast, from simple insulation, LED lighting, heating and ventilation (HVAC) through to complex building management systems (BMS), process, plant and equipment optimization.

Renewable Energy

We offer all renewable energy solutions from initial feasibility studies to complete installations including specialized finance and an evaluation of all tariffs, taxes and levies:

  • Solar thermal and solar PV
  • Biomass heating and Biomass CHP
  • Anaerobic Digestion
  • Air and ground source heat pumps
  • Wind energy
